Christmas Shoe Boxes for Honduran Children

Christmas depends on us
-Katherine Hollingsworth, Missions Chair
Do you or your children know what it is like to wake up on Christmas morning with no presents? Not just the latest gadget, but no stocking stuffer or piece of candy? We have been putting smiles on Honduran children at Christmas for many years with our shoebox ministry. This year, because funds and giving are down, Central may not be able to send hundreds of shoeboxes without your help. We must raise at least $2500 to pay for shipping the shoeboxes to Honduras. Central has many dedicated members who have brought gifts for the shoeboxes. Our children take great joy in knowing that the shoeboxes they pack are going to children just like them, except that they live in another country.

We are a generous church. If someone needs help, we do everything possible to fulfill a need or request. Honduras needs our help NOW. Sister Eleanor said that without Central’s shoebox ministry, there will be thousands of children with nothing on Christmas morning.
Recently, Sister Eleanor had a family ask for food because they have not eaten in 3 days. She did not even have rice and beans to give them. We are very blessed that we have the basic essentials of food, shelter, and water. A challenge to you—let’s live like we have one month to live with no regrets. Instead of going out to eat one night or purchasing one more doll or video game, think about donating that money to help keep the smiles on the Honduran children’s faces this Christmas.

Visit www.honduranmissions.com for additional information. The container of shoeboxes is also filled with food and clothing. Please make your check out to Central and designate for “mission container.” Please bring items for shoeboxes and bags of rice and beans no later than October 6. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
