Central looks at accessibility Hello Church Family! Central United Methodist Church is seeking information from churchgoers in order to effectively support persons of all levels of ability in our church community. Many of our members may have a need for more accessibility/adaptability in our church, but do not know the right person to help support and meet that need. Accessibility can include all devices or adaptations that may be needed to help individuals participate more easily in the church service and/or church activities. Examples include (but are not limited to) large text bibles/hymnals/bulletins, hearing amplification/braille items/sign language during services, help with mobility, accessible accommodations (including parking, seating, altars, aisles of the sanctuary), food allergy signs at potlucks, or any other type of accommodation.

There will be more to come on this later, including a survey for our church family to fill out to give input. If anyone would enjoy giving me some feedback and insight in the beginning stages of developing this project, please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Are you hearing things? In a church service or special event, it is important that you hear, and hear well. This includes speakers, vocalists, instrumentalists, and/or video presentations. Sound reinforcement is a vital component of worship. In an older space like we have here at Central, although it can be a challenge at times, quality sound can be achieved with the equipment we have.

We are looking to create an Audio/Video Team (AVT) to be responsible for sound reinforcement and video recording and/or streaming of CUMC programs and services.

Is this your gift? Is this a talent you could share to help lead others in worship? We have been “checking in” via social media on our phones in church. Imagine how many more we would reach if we had video of our services and events online?
