Enjoy a day of baseball at Rickwood

-Pastor Fred Webster
It all started as a dream of Rick Woodward. He was a 20 something year old businessman who loved baseball and bought the controlling interest in the Birmingham Coal Barons minor league baseball team. He solicited the help of legendary baseball man Connie Mack to build the “The Finest MinorRickwood League Ballpark Ever”. On August 18, 1910, the innovative concrete and steel baseball park opened on the corner of 2nd Avenue West and 12th Street Southwest in Birmingham. Now in its 109th year, Rickwood Field is the oldest functioning baseball park in America. High school and college teams use it, it has been the backdrop for numerous films, and once a year it is the home of a game between the Birmingham Barons and a Southern League opponent. Join us for the Rickwood Classic, May 29, 2019. Tickets are $10 (cash only) and we will pay for them at the gate. We will eat at Rickwood, so don’t forget money for food.
